The David Festival connects experts in the arts with those serving in the Church. The David Festival launched in Port Perry, Ontario in 2008 with a vision to encourage, enable and equip churches in the Scugog area of southern Ontario to glorify God through music and the arts.
The festival has expanded each year, both in the workshops it offers, and in participants coming from communities outside of the Scugog area.
The David Festival will be taking a “pause” or “selah” this year.
The word “selah” appears 71 times in the book of Psalms and originates from the Hebrew word “salah,” a musical notation signifying a rest for the singers and/or instrumentalists at the end of the psalm being performed. A chance to breathe!
Pressing the “pause” button on the TV remote offers a break in the action, a time for refreshment, a moment of peace and quiet, space to reflect. The David Festival has pressed the “pause” button for this year.
Thank you for your past participation and support of the festival. Stay tuned for more information coming in late 2017. Selah!
The David Festival presents a variety of workshops designed to foster excellence in the arts to participating individuals and churches in Scugog and beyond.
If you and/or your church would like to participate in the David Festival in the future, you are welcome!
